Positively tested lithium batteries (except in the case of disposal), special packaging, sophisticated cushioning material, specialized logistics service providers that ensure transport through all stages – even for critically defective batteries, storage containers with integrated fire protection concept and storage cabinets, take-back offers and finally, recycling facilities that extract valuable materials from the discarded batteries and thus create a cycle for new batteries.

Over the last ten to 15 years, a growing market for specialized battery logistics solutions has developed. Logistics service providers in particular are capitalizing on this trend and expanding their range of services beyond pure transport. They now also offer specialized storage, take-back and recycling of lithium batteries.
In addition, the number of mergers and partnerships be-tween different players in the industry is growing. Examples such as the cooperation between e.punkt and Battery Damage Service show how companies are pooling their expertise to meet the growing demands of lithium battery logistics.
