SV 188: Die Kleinen | SP 188: The little ones

Die Sondervorschrift 188 (SV 188) ist für die Gefahrgutvorschriften der Land- und Seeverkehrsträger ADR, RID, ADN und IMDG-Code gleichlautend. Sie hat für den Versand von Lithiumbatterien eine hohe Bedeutung.

Denn diese Sondervorschrift beschreibt vereinfachte Transportbedingungen für „kleine“ Zellen und Batterien. „Klein“ bedeutet hier, dass bestimmte Leistungsgrößen (Wattstundenzahl für Lithium-Ionen- sowie Anteil an metallischem Lithium für Lithium-Metall-Zellen oder Batterien) nicht überschritten werden dürfen.

Diesen Weg nutzen Verlader in der ganzen Welt, um Kosten und Aufwand zu sparen. So müssen Verpackungen in diesen Fällen nicht bauartgeprüft sein. Aber es sind weitere Bedingungen umzusetzen, wie die nebenstehende Tabelle und die folgenden Seiten zeigen. Darüber hinaus formulieren einige Reedereien über ihre AGBs zusätzliche Anforderungen für den Seeverkehr.

Special provision 188 (SV 188) is identical for the dangerous goods provisions of the land and sea modes of transport ADR, RID, ADN and IMDG Code. It is of great importance for the shipment of lithium batteries. This is because this special regulation describes simplified transport conditions for „small“ cells and batteries. „Small“ means here that certain power ratings (number of watt-hours for lithium-ion cells and proportion of metallic lithium for lithium-metal cells or batteries) may not be exceeded.

Shippers all over the world use this method to save costs and effort. This is because the conditions for simplified shipping apply here. In these cases, packaging does not have to be type-tested (but it should at least be of a resistant quality). But there are further conditions to be implemented, as the adjacent table and the following pages show. In addition, some shipping companies formulate additional requirements for sea transport in their general terms and conditions.
